Concrete peeling off the eaves of a Tang-style building in Tai Po, Hong Kong, exposing steel bars

In a report from Hong Kong on the morning of yesterday, a tenement building at 157 Kwong Fuk Road in Tai Po experienced concrete peeling off. Passersby noticed this and alerted the authorities for help. Firefighters arrived at the scene to clear away the dangerous concrete.

The police received a report around 7 a.m. yesterday, indicating that a 1-meter by 1-meter concrete slab was loosening under the eaves at the mentioned address, with exposed steel bars. Upon arrival, the police cordoned off a section of the pedestrian walkway, and the firefighters proceeded to remove the hazardous portion of concrete. Officials from the Buildings Department also conducted an inspection on-site, determining that there was no immediate danger but urging the relevant personnel of the building to carry out repairs promptly. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
