Trump’s Speech in Texas: Tariffs Reviving the American Steel Industry

President Trump held a rally at the Coosa Steel factory in Rome, Georgia on Thursday, February 19th, to celebrate the comprehensive recovery of the business since the implementation of tariffs on steel and other products last year.

“I look at these steel and equipment in front of us – they were just added, all thanks to our tariffs,” Trump said while addressing the crowd at the event. “Thanks to what I call ‘Trump Tariffs,’ Coosa Steel’s business has flourished again.”

Steelworkers told The Epoch Times that in the past few years, their work hours were restricted due to the slowdown in business; but following the tariffs going into effect, there are more opportunities to make money than ever before.

“Our trucks leave here almost fully loaded every day,” said Jeffrey Shook. “For us, the current situation couldn’t be any better.”

Another long-time employee, Tyler King, stated: “Business is booming every day.”

Colleague Kody Cromer added that workers were pleasantly surprised by the President’s visit and were excited to see him in person.

Coosa Steel’s CEO, Andrew Saville, told the crowd that Trump’s policies significantly boosted economic activity. He emphasized that every piece of steel the company uses is made in the USA.

“All the goods stored in our warehouses – 100% are American-made,” Saville said.

Trump mentioned that his administration is working to reverse the impacts of former President Biden’s trade policies.

“Our trade policies of tax cuts, reduced regulations, lower energy prices, and job creation are leading America to quickly overcome economic disasters,” he said.

The President also listed a series of economic achievements since taking on the role of Commander in Chief for the second time.

As tax season unfolds, he also informed the crowd that this year’s tax refunds would be higher than last year.

In a statement, the White House pointed out that the tax cuts passed through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act would save over $3,000 for families in Georgia.

The White House estimated that this tax adjustment would secure over 200,000 job opportunities.

Officials project that the wages for each worker would increase by approximately $6,700 in the coming years.

Moreover, several commercial investments set to land in Georgia are expected to further boost the local economy.

One of the newly announced plans is part of a $550 billion trade agreement with Japan, where a manufacturing plant will be built to produce Synthetic Diamond Grit for industrial use.

Additionally, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will expand its presence in Georgia with a $11 billion investment. Salesforce and JS Link also plan to expand, creating over 200 new job positions each in the state.

U.S. Treasurer and Georgia native Brandon Beach gave a speech on energy and infrastructure development plans to kick off the event.

“We will dominate in oil,” Beach said, predicting that gasoline prices would soon drop below $2 per gallon.

Currently, gasoline prices in Georgia are around $2.71 per gallon, marking a 40% decrease from the highest point during the Biden administration.

At the event, President Trump also endorsed local prosecutor Clay Fuller. Fuller is currently running for the seat left vacant by former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and delivered a speech during the event.

“We are determined and will march into the halls of Congress to become a strong backing for Northwest Georgia, also serving this gentleman (Trump),” Fuller said. “Our commitment to the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement and President Trump remains unwavering.”

The Trump administration allocated $1 billion for healthcare institutions and communities statewide, with $218 million specifically set aside for rural areas.

State government officials are urging the implementation of localized practices to align with federal strategies.

“The pattern he implemented at the federal level… we will fully replicate at the state government level,” said Lieutenant Governor and gubernatorial candidate Burt Jones, emphasizing the importance of ensuring Electoral Integrity.

Republican State Senator and current candidate for Lieutenant Governor Steve Gooch told The Epoch Times that his plan is to “Make Georgia Great Again” after the end of Biden’s presidential term – a goal that aligns with Trump’s agenda of “Making America Great Again.” He noted that Biden’s presidency had negatively impacted the state.

“If you believe in your leadership and in the principles of capitalism and our republican form of government, then we will become a great nation once again; and Trump is leading us back on track to achieve this goal,” Gooch said.

The President also invited U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas and NFL Hall of Famer Herschel Walker, as well as Gunner Stockton, quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs team, to share their perspectives on stage.

“Please cast the right vote because we are here to save America,” Walker said.
