According to the Observatory, based on their preliminary analysis, at 2:28 pm, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred in Yangjiang, Guangdong, about 22 kilometers southwest of Yangjiang (approximately 260 kilometers southwest by west of Hong Kong), with a depth of about 11 kilometers.
The Hong Kong Observatory stated that they received reports from over a hundred citizens who felt the earthquake, with the shaking lasting for several seconds. Initial analysis shows that the seismic intensity in Hong Kong is categorized as level III (three) on the modified Mercalli intensity scale, indicating it was felt indoors, similar to the vibration caused by a small truck passing by.
