At present, the imprisoned petitioners in Hubei Female Prison, including Yin Dengzhen, are suffering from worsening lymphoma and are unable to walk. Recently, the prison authorities urgently contacted Yin Dengzhen’s family, asking them to go to Wuhan for detailed discussions on Yin Dengzhen’s condition. However, Yin Dengzhen’s application for medical parole has been consistently denied.
Yin Dengzhen has been deprived of medical treatment for over a year, and her condition of lymphoma continues to deteriorate, raising concerns about her safety.
On August 22, 2025, Yin Dengzhen’s appeal on the charge of “provocation and disturbing the peace” was upheld in the second trial with a prison term of 4 years and 6 months. Yin Dengzhen’s daughter, Xiebeibei, who is in exile in Japan, told a reporter from Dajiyuan, “My mother Yin Dengzhen was diagnosed with lymphoma before being imprisoned and during detention, she was admitted to the Shiyan City Hospital in Hubei. Yin Dengzhen personally submitted a ‘temporary medical parole application’ to the Shiyan Intermediate Court twice, but was not approved.”
“On September 4, 2025, Judge Wang Rui replied to the lawyer: the court agreed to initiate the approval process for Yin Dengzhen’s temporary medical parole. However, just 3 working days later, Yin Dengzhen was secretly transferred from the hospital by the Hubei Provincial Prison Administration and Wuhan Female Prison to Wuhan Female Prison for serving her sentence.”
The family of Yin Dengzhen was told by Wuhan Female Prison that before her incarceration, she had a full-body check-up indicating good health with no diseases, including lymphoma, meeting the criteria for detention. A month later, the prison authorities contacted Yin Dengzhen’s son repeatedly, claiming that the latest examination found “slight inflammation in the lymph nodes,” dismissing it as a minor issue.
It is reported that Yin Dengzhen’s son explicitly told the prison authorities that during her detention at the Shiyan Detention Center, she was urgently sent for medical treatment twice, with hospital examination reports showing her weight was only 71 catties, a drastic drop of more than 40 catties, severe malnutrition, bedridden, unable to eat or walk normally. He inquired if the prison authorities have arranged for his mother to receive medical treatment.
The prison authorities stated that if Yin Dengzhen’s condition worsens significantly, they will send her to an external hospital for treatment, but all expenses must be borne by the family. They also urged Yin Dengzhen’s son to provide money for purchasing nutrition and medication for her.
Upon hearing this, Yin Dengzhen’s son expressed that the prison environment and medical conditions are poor. He applied again to Wuhan Female Prison for medical parole, but it was rejected on the grounds that Yin Dengzhen’s health did not meet the criteria for medical parole.
Yin Dengzhen’s son informed the prison authorities that the Yongyang District Government in Shiyan City has specific funding for treating Yin Dengzhen’s lymphoma, suggesting the prison authorities contact the district government or directly contact his sister Xiebeibei, who has been entrusted with full power of attorney for their mother’s affairs.
As early as the end of December 2024, Yin Dengzhen was diagnosed with lymphoma at the People’s Liberation Army General Hospital in Beijing, with serious spread of lymphoma cells throughout her body, including bilateral inguinal areas, bilateral armpits, and bilateral neck regions, prompting the hospital to recommend further examination with PET scans.
Yet, before completing further medical tests, on January 16, 2025, Yin Dengzhen was administratively detained by the Chaoyang Sub-bureau of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau for “disturbing the order of state institutions” due to her rights defense at the Supreme Court. The Chaoyang Sub-bureau also falsified her medical records, claiming she did not have lymphoma and forcibly detained her at the Chaoyang Detention Center for 7 days.
On January 23, 2025, the day the detention was lifted, over a dozen officials from the Shiyan City Government in Hubei attempted to kidnap Yin Dengzhen outside the Chaoyang Detention Center in Beijing but failed.
On the morning of January 26, 2025, at 7 a.m., Yin Dengzhen was once again forcibly abducted, robbed by six unidentified individuals hired by the Shiyan City Government, from her residence in the Edgellia Apartments in the Daxing District of Beijing, and forcefully detained in Shiyan City, exceeding a year now.
Xiebeibei stated, “While my mother was detained, both she, I, and the lawyer have submitted over ten applications for bail pending trial and medical parole to the Shiyan City Public Security Bureau, Procuratorate, and Court, all of which were rejected. The illogical and severely contradictory statements from Wuhan Female Prison seem to be deliberately depriving Yin Dengzhen of her medical rights, leading to the deterioration of her lymphoma, and trying to shift the blame to the family.”
Xiebeibei strongly condemns the Chinese authorities, stating, “The authorities in China, through ‘arbitrary detention’ and ‘deprivation of medical care,’ are deliberately plotting the murder of my mother, which is a serious violation of human rights. I once again implore the international community to urgently pay attention to the safety of Yin Dengzhen’s life!”
