Federal Agent Attacked in Los Angeles and Hospitalized

Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that a federal agent was attacked and injured during a protest against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, February 13th. The injured agent was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

The LAPD announced before 1 p.m. through their official website that the Los Angeles Fire Department was responding to assist the injured federal agent.

The condition of the agent remains unknown as they are being treated at the hospital. The LAPD did not specify which federal agency the agent belongs to.

It is still unclear if anyone has been arrested in connection to the incident. Authorities mentioned that the suspect who attacked the agent had “infiltrated the protest group” while protesters were causing vandalism at the federal building.

In other social media posts, the LAPD reported that demonstrators were obstructing traffic and engaging in destructive behavior, including targeting the federal building and throwing objects at the police.

According to local media reports, this protest was part of a student strike action.

As reported by the California Post, protesters were seen waving signs with provocative slogans and profanity.

Previously, on the night of January 30th, Los Angeles witnessed protests against immigration enforcement where demonstrators threw bottles and rocks at the police. Law enforcement issued dispersal orders and used pepper balls and tear gas to disperse the crowds. At least four suspects were detained for property damage during the protests and are expected to face felony charges.
