Before the Chinese New Year, a roadside stall selling firecrackers and fireworks in Changhu New City, Panguing City, Liaoning Province, exploded in a fire, turning into ashes overnight.
According to several netizens who posted videos, on February 11, a roadside firecracker stall in Panguing caught fire and exploded. The video shows flames shooting up into the sky, with the sound of explosions echoing through the night, lasting for a long time. Multiple vehicles parked near the scene can be seen in the video.
One video uploader stated that before the incident, they saw someone set off a string of firecrackers, then saw people running out and the fire started. Another video uploader mentioned that the next day, they found that the original firecracker stall had been reduced to ashes.
According to Jimo News, the incident took place on a road near Changhu New City, and nearby businesses immediately contacted the police and fire department after the fire broke out. Firefighters arrived shortly and extinguished the blaze.
As reported by the China News and Culture Promotion Association, the explosion caused a truck’s cabin to catch fire. Witness Mr. Dong said that the stall selling fireworks and firecrackers caught fire, lasting about half an hour.
In response, the Emergency Management Bureau of Xinglongtai District in Panguing City only stated that “the fire did not cause any casualties,” without mentioning the truck cabin catching fire.
The video has sparked attention online. Many netizens expressed their sorrow, saying, “It’s almost New Year, the losses are severe,” “The stall owner’s family is devastated,” “So tragic, the capital that was supposed to be earned is now gone,” “The truck cabin was even burnt.”
Some netizens estimated, “The losses must be in the tens of thousands, right?” A local netizen replied, “170,000.”
