The Deputy Secretary-General of the China Pharmaceutical Equipment Industry Association, Yi Qianhe, is suspected of “serious violations” and is under investigation.
On February 6th, the “Qinglian Hainan” WeChat public account released news of Yi Qianhe’s investigation. Currently, he is undergoing investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission stationed in the Central Social Work Department, as well as the Supervisory Commission of Danzhou City, Hainan Province.
On January 14th, the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China issued a communique, explicitly stating for the first time that “learned societies and associations” are listed as one of the key areas for anti-corruption efforts in 2026. Just 15 days later, on January 29th, Yang Keqin, President of the Guizhou Medical Association and former inspector of the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, announced that he was under investigation, becoming the first case in the anti-corruption efforts targeting learned societies and associations in 2026.
Several days later, Yi Qianhe was investigated. A report by “Chang’an Street Zhi Shi,” a WeChat public account under the Beijing Daily, indicated that this marks a strong signal from the disciplinary inspection and supervisory agencies to “seriously investigate” corruption in the field of learned societies and associations.
Public records show that the China Pharmaceutical Equipment Industry Association is a non-profit social organization established in 1991, headquartered in Beijing. As of December 2025, it had a total of 592 member units. The main business of the association includes formulating industry development plans, drafting and amending national standards for pharmaceutical equipment, industry standards, and more.
