Costco recalls French crullers in the United States due to labeling error.

Costco is recalling boxed mini French beignets sold in 23 states in the United States due to a labeling error that could trigger allergic reactions.

According to the recall notice issued by Costco, some boxes of caramel-filled mini French beignets were mistakenly packaged with chocolate hazelnut-filled beignets, which means the tree nut was not listed as an allergen on the packaging label.

The recall notice stated, “For those allergic to hazelnuts or tree nuts, consuming these products may cause severe, life-threatening allergic reactions.”

The affected product number is #1181272, distributed to Costco stores in 23 states from January 16 to January 30, 2026. The states include Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

Costco is encouraging customers who have purchased these products to return them for a full refund or contact the supermarket’s customer service department for assistance.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this recall may cause,” the company wrote in the recall notice.

According to the non-profit organization Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) in the United States, tree nut allergies are common in both children and adults. The organization stated that walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, cashews, and pistachios are the main causes of tree nut allergies.
