Chinese Illegal Immigrants in Italy Snatch Guns and Attack Police, Sparking Street Gunfire

The recent illegal immigration-related crime involving a Chinese national in Italy has sparked widespread attention and discussion in the country. In Milan on Sunday (February 1), a shootout erupted between the police and a suspect surnamed Liu, a Chinese national, who had snatched a security guard’s gun and attacked the police. Liu was shot in the head by the police and rushed to the hospital in critical condition, falling into a coma.

According to a report by the Corriere della Sera, just 2 kilometers away from the Milan Winter Olympics Sports Center, a man surnamed Liu, around 30 years old, of Chinese nationality, assaulted a security guard with a bat and stole his gun on the afternoon of the 1st. Italian police attempted to intercept Liu, and a gunfight broke out on the street between the two sides.

It was reported that this Chinese man residing illegally in Italy had committed his third crime within 4 days, having previously attacked others with a bat multiple times. Yesterday, the suspect surnamed Liu fired at least 3 shots at the police, hitting their patrol car. However, he was shot in the head and shoulder by the police in return, and after being rushed to the hospital, he fell into a critical condition in a coma. No injuries were reported among the Italian police.

Media reports stated that the Chinese man surnamed Liu is around 160 cm tall, residing illegally in Italy without a registered address, and has been questioned by the police multiple times. The incident on Sunday was the third time in 4 days that this man had been stopped by the police, the first time for attempting to steal a folding knife and the second time for threatening others with a martial arts weapon made of two brooms.

The case involving the suspect surnamed Liu has drawn the attention of the Italian media. He had briefly been sent to a mental hospital in the past and had been reported by residents for suspicious or threatening behavior multiple times. However, he was always quickly released after being arrested. According to media reports, the suspect surnamed Liu seemed to have been actively seeking firearms in recent days, as he had also attempted to get close to attack other Italian railway police or security guards to steal their guns. The case is currently under investigation by Italian prosecutors.
