The documentary “Melania,” featuring the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, has set a record for the best opening weekend box office for a documentary in over a decade. At the premiere ceremony last Thursday, Melania revealed the challenges she faced during the production of the film and the role she played as the First Lady returning to the White House during President Trump’s second term.
One key scene revealed in a Fox News report on February 2nd details Melania suggesting an important term to be included in President Trump’s inaugural speech draft, which he gladly accepted.
In an on-site interview with Fox News Digital Channel, Melania expressed that the schedule was very tight and making a movie was not a simple task. She mentioned the significant involvement of many people and the immense amount of work leading the entire production team.
“Melania” showcases her as the First Lady, moving between scenes in New York, Washington, and Palm Beach, Florida. Melania shared in the film that while Mar-a-Lago was her sanctuary, she learned that no matter where she was, “home is where my heart is.”
The film also depicts her relationship with husband President Trump and their interactions. In one scene, Trump is reviewing his inaugural speech draft, with Melania suggesting the term “unifier.” Trump adopted her suggestion on the day of the inauguration.
In his speech, Trump stated, “My proudest legacy will be as a peacebuilder and unifier. That is what I aim to be: a peacebuilder and unifier.” After this statement, Trump turned to acknowledge Melania.
On the eve of the inauguration, another scene in the film portrays the Trump couple meeting with Sean Curran, the Director of the U.S. Secret Service, and an event planning coordinator. In this moment, Melania expressed serious concerns about the inauguration parade, which was eventually moved indoors due to weather conditions, relieving Melania.
Melania also revealed that their son Barron was unwilling to get out of the car in public places.
Melania’s exclusive senior advisor and agent, Marc Beckman, represented her in reaching a film production deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Beckman expressed his hope that the audience could see and appreciate how dedicated the First Lady was to everything she did.
Beckman has previously mentioned that on the world stage, the First Lady pays attention to every detail.
Melania disclosed that she actively participated in post-production, selecting music for each scene and even creating a special music piece, “Melania’s Waltz.”
Melania specifically mentioned her pride in the teamwork of the entire crew, emphasizing the pleasant collaboration with director Brett Ratner and all the producers, commending the fantastic team.
Scenes in the film include Melania discussing the inauguration outfit with fashion designer Adam Lippes, conversing in French with French First Lady Brigitte Macron about the “Be Best” initiative, meeting with Queen Letizia of Spain at Mar-a-Lago to discuss children’s charity projects, and more.
Melania secured a $25 million investment for this film, which will be included in the President’s 2026 fiscal year budget to fund initiatives for foster children.
