More than ten street-facing shops in Bijie, Guizhou, were blocked off by walls at night.

In Bijie City, Guizhou Province, a commercial street was barricaded overnight, affecting more than ten shops. After the news was released, it quickly became a hot topic on February 1st. Currently, no relevant authority has come forward to take responsibility for the incident.

On January 30th, a mainland Chinese netizen posted a video on social media, showing that several shops on the A building of Sanjiang City Garden in Bijie City were completely sealed off by a gray brick wall, with only the signs of “Yishu Pharmacy” and other shops visible on top of the wall. The caption of the video mentioned that the barricade occurred at night, and it was only discovered by the shop owners and property management the following morning.

Some netizens revealed in the comments that the commercial complex was originally a unified structure with “ground floor shops and second floor supermarket”, but it was later renovated and divided into smaller units for rent.

A shop owner affected by the barricade disclosed to the Huashang Daily on January 31st that surveillance footage showed around 11:00 PM on January 29th, someone used bricks to block the shop fronts, affecting more than ten stores, forcing them to close for a day on the 30th.

An employee at a hearing aid store mentioned that the barricade wall had been dismantled on the morning of the 31st, but the street was cordoned off with police tape. The involved businesses have since resumed normal operations.

An official from the Xijie Sub-district Office of Qixingguan District stated to the media, “We have confirmed the fact that the shop fronts were barricaded, and the specific reasons are still under investigation.”

Regarding this incident, a mainland Chinese blogger with the username “Potato Knows Everything” expressed that conflicts should be resolved through negotiation and not through such extreme measures. This method could potentially violate the law and constitute the crime of “obstructing production and operation.”
