Mainland Actor: Production Forced Babies to Get Rained On, Children Cry Bitterly

Chinese Mainland Actress Xing Yun recently posted a video on social media, exposing that during the filming of a short drama, a baby was made to shoot in a downpour generated by a waterwheel for a long time, causing the child to be soaked and crying inconsolably. She criticized, “Short dramas always torture women and children like this!”

According to Xing Yun’s post, it was especially cold during the night when they filmed the rain scene. The scene required the female lead to carry a baby and get drenched in the rain, and upon seeing this, Xing Yun lent her umbrella to the other actress and gave her some money. The baby, drenched for a long time, was crying miserably!

“It was already midnight at that time, the baby’s mother’s face looked terrible, but she didn’t dare to say anything,” Xing Yun revealed. She admitted that as an actress, she had to accept certain hardships, but couldn’t bear to see a baby treated in such a manner.

On January 18, Xing Yun further told Chinese media that because they needed to film close-ups, both her and the other actress couldn’t have rain on their faces, so the umbrellas were raised high, leaving the baby completely exposed to the cold rain. The solution was to switch the baby with a prop during filming, but the crew didn’t do that to save time.

Reportedly, the infant was paid only 800 yuan for the scene, and the parents accepted such filming due to financial pressure.

However, this incident is not an isolated case. Recalling another instance of filming in Xi’an, Xing Yun mentioned a scene where a baby had to be placed in a real garbage truck! Afterwards, the baby’s father jokingly said, “After this, our child has to rush to the next scene!”

The exposure of this event has sparked outrage online and quickly became a hot topic on Weibo. Netizens criticized the lack of basic humanitarian care within the crew and questioned the parents for treating their children as money-making tools.

“This is outrageous.” “Why couldn’t they carry the child in front?” “Refusing to film children in close-ups is pure laziness and lack of humanity.” “The child is shivering, the parents must be desperate for money.” “The parents must be helpless, their objections are only met with ‘leave if you don’t like it’ responses (better leave easily, high penalties for breaking the contract).” “With only an 800-yuan payment, the potential consequences outweigh the gains.” “This has crossed the basic moral line.” “The poor child! Boycotting unethical production crews!”
