The 67th Grammy Awards nominees were announced on the night of November 8 at 11 p.m. PT. Beyoncé leads the pack with 11 nominations, setting a record for the most nominations in a single year in Grammy history and making her the artist with the most nominations in Grammy history with a total of 99. The rock band “The Beatles” received a nomination for their album “The Last New Song,” marking their return to the Grammy nominations after 27 years.
This year’s Grammy nominations continue the trend from the previous year, with a majority of the main awards being dominated by women. Categories such as “Best Pop Performance” and “Best Pop Vocal Album” have all-female nominees, making the competition fierce.
Last year, Taylor Swift took home the biggest award of “Album of the Year” with her album “Midnights,” becoming the artist with the most wins in that category in history. This year, she is nominated again with “The Tortured Poets Department,” marking her 7th nomination and setting a record for the most nominations for a female artist in that category.
Billie Eilish, also vying for “Album of the Year,” received a nomination for her third album “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” released this year. She is currently the only artist whose first three albums have all been nominated for “Album of the Year.”
The legendary band “The Beatles” are nominated for “Record of the Year” and “Best Rock Performance” with their album “Now And Then,” released last year, marking their return to the Grammy nominations after 27 years.
Seasoned artists Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter and Chappell Roan received their first nominations and secured six nominations including “Best New Artist,” “Album of the Year,” “Record of the Year,” and “Song of the Year.” Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter expressed her excitement on social media: “This morning on our tour bus, we screamed with excitement with every nomination we received. Warning you to watch your headphone volume. This is the first time I have seen the live nomination announcement and heard my name. If I say I have never dreamed of this day in my life, I am lying, I am full of gratitude!”
The 67th Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 2, 2025 in Los Angeles.
