On February 1st, Chinese-Canadian singer Kelly Yu Wenwen collapsed during an outdoor commercial performance in Anshun, Guizhou and was promptly rushed to the hospital by an ambulance. The incident of “Yu Wenwen fainting” immediately trended on social media, sparking concerns and discussions among fans and netizens.
Videos shared by on-site spectators showed Yu Wenwen finishing her performance, then slowly squatting down and sitting on the ground before collapsing and losing consciousness.
According to eyewitnesses speaking to the New Beijing News, the event happened quite suddenly. Signs of discomfort were already noticeable when Yu Wenwen was singing “Original Sin”, as she blinked frequently before fainting directly on stage and had to be carried off on a stretcher by staff and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Following the incident, the on-site performance was momentarily halted. Singer Wu Kequn quickly took the stage to salvage the situation and explained the circumstances to the audience.
Reportedly, on February 1st, the “2026 Daming Resonance · Encounter Anshun · Wonderful Life Super LIVE Tour Concert” was held at the Anshun Olympic Center Stadium, where Yu Wenwen, alongside Zhang Xinzhe, Wu Kequn, Xu Huaiyu, and others, was invited to perform.
According to information from China Weather Network, the outdoor temperature in Anshun that night was just 2°C. Some netizens mentioned that Yu Wenwen had been keeping a busy schedule recently, having just finished a concert in Shenzhen the day before and rushing to Guizhou for the performance the next day, suggesting that exhaustion might have been a major factor in her collapse. Other netizens pointed out that the low temperature in Anshun that day, combined with the thin performance outfit, could have exacerbated her discomfort.
On the evening of February 1st, Yu Wenwen’s studio issued a statement indicating that there was no immediate life-threatening danger to Yu Wenwen, and she was currently under observation and receiving treatment at the hospital.
Public records show that Kelly Yu Wenwen is a Canadian-born Chinese pop music singer and actress who ventured into China in 2010. In 2018, she won the Best Movie Song Award at the 23rd Huading Awards.
