Rare Gathering of Five Generations of Women in British Aristocratic Family After 52 Years

A family in the UK is celebrating the arrival of a newborn baby girl, marking the presence of five generations of women in the family simultaneously.

Little Teya Jones was born on April 5th, weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces, making her the newest member of the Jones family.

Incredibly, her arrival signifies the second time in recent memory that this family from Shrewsbury has achieved the remarkable milestone of having five generations of women under one roof.

The ladies of the Jones family span an age difference of 89 years, with great-great-grandmother Audrey Skitt at the helm, followed by 18-year-old Teya’s mother Evie Jones, grandmother Kim Jones at 51, great-grandmother Lindsey Jones at 70, and the latest addition, little Teya, marking the five generations of women in the family.

52 years ago, 37-year-old Ms. Skitt, 19-year-old Lindsey, and a young Kim proudly appeared in the local newspaper, The Shropshire Star, showcasing the rare feat of five generations of women in the family, with Skitt’s 61-year-old mother Gladys Blumfield and Blumfield’s 81-year-old mother Martha Dodd still alive at the time.

Blumfield passed away in 1982 at the age of 71, while Dodd passed in 1985 at the age of 94.

Today, 52 years later, with Teya’s birth, the family can once again celebrate having five generations of women under one roof.

As a hairdresser, Kim Jones joyfully expressed, “When we heard Evie was expecting, I was thrilled. It’s such a wonderful feeling to have five generations of women in our family, and to pass that feeling onto the new baby.” Kim herself, who was once the baby in the family, is now a proud grandmother.

Kim Jones shared, “We are quite a large family, and every late summer, my mother hosts a big reunion party. So, we are really looking forward to introducing Teya to the rest of the family at the gathering. My grandmother is not in good health, so all of this is really for her.”

She added, “Having five generations of women under one roof in the family is truly rare, and for it to happen twice in this family is just unbelievable!”

This multi-generational family hails from Shrewsbury, where they were all born and have worked their entire lives.

Ms. Skitt has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and she used to work at a bakery in town.

Lindsey Jones previously worked at a construction company before becoming a barmaid at a local pub.

New mom Evie Jones works at a hotel and serves as a restaurant manager.

Evie Jones remarked, “To become a five-generation family for the second time is truly magical and very rare. Teya is amazing. It’s been tiring at times, but I am really excited to introduce her to her grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. We are a big family, so Teya hasn’t had the chance to meet every member of the extended family yet, but we are working on it.”
