An American dog who loves to play in the water is refusing to leave the backyard swimming pool of its owners, spending hours in it every day regardless of how much they call out to it.
The five-year-old male Labrador named Buster discovered his love for swimming after his owners built a pool in the backyard last year. Jennifer Henry, Buster’s owner, works in health education in Milton, Florida. She mentioned hearing Buster jumping into the pool repeatedly every day.
“The pool was built last year, and only then did we realize how much our beloved dog ‘loves playing in the water’,” Jennifer said. “He can spend 1 to 3 hours in the pool every day, jumping in whenever he feels like it, without any restraint.”
“We know he’s having a blast in there every time we hear his barks and the splashing sounds.”
However, Jennifer hopes Buster would spend less time in the pool as he tends to make a lot of noise, but she knows it’s almost impossible to stop him.
“There are times when I can’t help but shout at him, but he remains unfazed.” Jennifer mentioned.
Buster is so fascinated with the pool that he even managed to persuade his 14-year-old brother Scooby to join him for a swim, although Scooby is not as enthusiastic as him.
Unlike Buster, Scooby is obedient. When Jennifer calls for him to leave the pool, he dutifully complies.
Despite Jennifer’s complaints about Buster’s love for swimming, she is also happy about it, given that he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of two. With only six months left to live, she is pleased that he is able to enjoy life to the fullest.
“Sometimes we feel a bit frustrated that we can’t get him to leave, but we genuinely hope his life can become a bit more interesting.” Jennifer added.
