Upon his arrival in Beijing, he chose to have his first meal at a Yunnan cuisine restaurant near the embassy district where diplomats from various countries often dine. When former US Treasury Secretary Yellen visited China in 2023, she also had her first meal after landing at this restaurant.
The well-known mainland Chinese internet-famous chain Yunnan cuisine restaurant “One Sit One Forget” released a video on its social media account on the evening of the 28th, showing Stamer dining at the Sanlitun store in Beijing and taking a group photo with the restaurant staff.
Some netizens also shared photos of Stamer and dozens of accompanying British personnel dining in the restaurant’s open space. The photos show that many people, including Stamer, were using chopsticks to eat at the table.

Stamer led a delegation of over 50 business leaders to visit China this time, marking the first visit to China by a British Prime Minister since 2018. On January 29th, he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, and on January 30th, he headed to Shanghai to hold meetings with local business executives.
