In a bizarre traffic accident in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, a driverless electric tricycle suddenly crossed the road and collided head-on with a white sedan in normal operation. Surprisingly, it turned out that the “culprits” behind the wheel were two sheepdogs inside the vehicle.
According to reports from multiple mainland Chinese news websites, the accident occurred around 9:30 am on December 7th near Sa Da Road, Xianfeng Village in Honggang District of Daqing City. The collision between the electric tricycle and the white sedan resulted in significant damage to the driver’s side of the sedan. What caught everyone off guard was the absence of a driver at the accident scene of the tricycle, with only two sheepdogs found inside it.
Upon receiving the report, traffic police from Honggang rushed to the scene. The driver of the sedan informed the police that after the accident, when he got out to inspect the damage, he only saw the two large dogs “guarding” the tricycle.
The police retrieved surveillance footage from the accident site. The video showed that the white sedan was traveling normally when the electric tricycle suddenly emerged from the roadside, crossed the road, and collided directly with it.
After investigation, it was revealed that before the accident, the owner of the tricycle had parked the vehicle by the roadside to buy fruits at the market. However, he forgot to remove the key or engage the handbrake, leaving only the two sheepdogs inside the tricycle. One of the dogs lay on the footboard, while the other accidentally hit the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to start moving and ultimately leading to the accident. Upon returning, the owner found the tricycle missing and later discovered the accident scene nearby.
The police determined that the driver of the tricycle bore full responsibility for the accident due to the lack of necessary safety measures after leaving the vehicle, and they are required to compensate for the damages to the white sedan. Currently, both parties are negotiating the compensation arrangements.
