On the morning of December 23rd, in Shanghai, a cement mixer truck crashed into a construction site wall while reversing, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of 2 pedestrians.
According to reports from Chinese media, the accident occurred around 8 o’clock in the morning at the intersection of Anyuan Road and Taizhou Road in the Putuo District of Shanghai. The cement mixer truck accidentally collided with the wall while reversing.
Witnesses at the scene described that a cement mixer truck was preparing to reverse into the construction site entrance near the intersection of Anyuan Road and Taizhou Road when a loud bang was heard, causing the wall to collapse. Two pedestrians walking on the sidewalk were struck by the falling wall and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
At the scene, Chinese media reporters saw that the entrance to the construction site on Anyuan Road had been cordoned off with caution tape. The cause of the accident and subsequent arrangements were still being dealt with.
In the evening of the 23rd, the Caojiadu Street Office in Jing’an District, Shanghai, reported that at 7:52 am on December 23rd, a cement mixer truck collided with the wall as it drove out of the construction site at Lane 899 of Anyuan Road, resulting in the collapse of the wall and the deaths of 2 pedestrians. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
