On December 17, a blogger exposed that mini cameras were installed in the nurse station changing room of Tianjin Jianhua Hospital, where multiple nurses were secretly filmed while changing clothes, and the related videos were circulating on inappropriate websites.
According to a report by Yangzi Evening News on December 18, the whistleblower informed the media that on December 9, he discovered multiple voyeuristic videos on an inappropriate website. The camera was positioned at the same height as the dressing room table, capturing several women changing from casual clothes into nurse uniforms and then changing back into their regular attire after work, with the hospital name on the nurse uniforms being identifiable.
By cross-referencing the hospital names, the blogger found that there were a total of four hospitals with the same name nationwide, including two in Tianjin. By analyzing clues such as the accents of the nurses in the videos, the blogger determined that the incident took place in Tianjin and reported it to the local police station on December 11.
The blogger mentioned that the voyeuristic videos included original footage and edited versions, with a total duration of about 30 minutes. After the involvement of the North Middle Police Station of Xiqing District, Tianjin, they contacted the blogger to verify the situation but did not disclose specific progress of the investigation. The blogger has submitted all website information, original videos, and analysis to the police.
When reporters contacted the hospital to verify the situation, a staff member claimed they were unaware of the incident, while the office staff stated that they had not paid attention to the matter and would report it to the responsible person and cooperate with the police investigation. The staff of the North Middle Police Station responded that the matter was still under investigation, and whether to disclose progress publicly would depend on the societal impact of the incident.
The blogger has long been concerned about issues of voyeurism and has previously exposed similar incidents.
The blogger mentioned that the recent highly publicized case of numerous female guests at a hot spring in Chongqing suspected of being secretly filmed was also exposed by him, leading to the apprehension of a male and a female suspect by the police. He also exposed a case where a graduate student at a school in Shandong used a mobile phone to secretly film over a hundred classmates in the women’s restroom, eventually turning himself in due to pressure.
The blogger stated that whenever he discovers voyeuristic clues involving specific locations and more serious threats, he will prioritize exposing them on social media platforms to alert criminals and remind the public to value privacy protection.
This incident has since sparked widespread attention on the internet.
Netizens commented, “Hospitals should strengthen security measures to protect the privacy of medical staff.” “Isn’t this similar to the incident in a Beijing hospital bathhouse years ago, it just wasn’t exposed at the time.” “Voyeurism is really rampant now.” “Is there no one regulating the voyeurism industry?”
“This voyeurism incident has surpassed individual cases and become a benchmark example for evaluating the ability of public venues to protect privacy. Healthcare workers safeguard public health, and their dignity and safety should be equally important as medical quality. The final investigation results by the police and the hospital’s corrective actions will directly reflect society’s determination to safeguard privacy boundaries.”
