Northern California Education Conference to Kick Off on October 19th

The 48th Northern California Chinese School Association’s first teaching seminar, titled “Classroom Management Upgrade Techniques,” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, at the South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center. This seminar will focus on classroom management and activity design, incorporating AI teaching applications to assist overseas Chinese teachers in enhancing their professionalism and confidence.

President Fu Qijun stated that the association has been actively organizing various workshops for teachers over the years, providing opportunities for professional growth. He emphasized that this seminar will help teachers to achieve greater effectiveness in the overseas education environment.

Director Zhuang Yashu also pointed out at the press conference that she believes through the seminar, overseas Chinese language teachers and principals can have the opportunity to “recharge.” She also encouraged educational colleagues to actively participate, injecting more vitality into overseas Chinese education together.

Vice President Liao Xiuqing emphasized that the seminar features different speakers sharing valuable experiences each year, and encourages teachers to seize the opportunity and actively participate.

The theme of the seminar is “Walking with you, hand in hand with the waves.” It symbolizes the collaboration and transmission of knowledge between experienced and new teachers, jointly propelling overseas Chinese education towards new milestones.

The event is organized by the Mandarin Language School teachers’ team.

Dr. Wang Zhimei will be the main speaker, sharing how to enhance student engagement and create a positive atmosphere through activity design, transforming classroom management into a catalyst for learning.

Teachers from lower, middle, and upper grades will lead group discussions, sharing lesson plans and practical experiences to gain firsthand inspiration through group interactions.

Demonstrations on how to use ChatGPT to assist in curriculum and activity design will be showcased, along with simulation exercises to demonstrate the innovative potential of artificial intelligence in education.

The seminar is open for registration starting from September 19.

The early bird draw deadline is on Sunday, October 5, and the final registration deadline is on Tuesday, October 14. The organizers sincerely invite education professionals to participate actively in creating a warm and powerful teaching community together. ◇
