Xiamen Airlines Flight Abruptly Slams on Brakes During Taxi; Passengers Heard Screaming

On the evening of September 5th, Xiamen Airlines flight MF8468 was taxiing for takeoff at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport when it abruptly stopped due to a mechanical failure, prompting screams from passengers onboard.

According to a video posted by a netizen, on September 5th, passengers aboard Xiamen Airlines MF8468 were originally scheduled to take off at 7:55 pm, flying from Guiyang to Hangzhou. However, the departure was delayed for about an hour. As the plane’s engines powered up for takeoff, there was a sudden jolt and the aircraft came to an abrupt stop. One passenger remarked they almost “ended up in Guiyang.”

The video shows flames coming from the right wing of the plane during the taxiing process, with netizens speculating that the engine might have caught fire. Subsequently, the plane made an emergency stop, causing panic and screams among passengers inside the cabin.

On the 6th, Xiamen Airlines customer service responded to the Beijing News, stating that the flight experienced a mechanical failure on the ground. Xiamen Airlines dispatched another aircraft from Xiamen to Guiyang, and eventually took off at 2:55 am on the 6th, landing at 4:51 am.

In the afternoon of the 6th, Xiamen Airlines posted on Weibo, explaining that Flight MF8468 had a ground mechanical issue on the 5th. To ensure flight safety, the crew timely aborted takeoff procedures according to protocols. Xiamen Airlines apologized for the flight delay caused by this incident.
