Near Hermann, Missouri, on Saturday morning, a bus carrying dozens of passengers was involved in an accident, resulting in 32 injuries, according to information released by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday on Highway 100 in the southwest part of Hermann, about 80 miles from St. Louis. The bus was heading west but drifted to the right side of the road. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to veer to the left side of the road and ultimately crash into a roadside ditch.
At the time of the incident, there were at least 41 people on board the bus. The driver, a 45-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
At least 32 people were injured in the accident, ranging from minor to severe. Apart from the driver, 3 other passengers were seriously injured, 11 suffered moderate injuries, and 17 sustained minor injuries. The injured individuals were reported to be between the ages of 27 and 68.
According to the Hermann Volunteer Fire Department, rescue personnel, including firefighters, medical staff, emergency responders, and flight attendants, arrived at the scene and successfully evacuated all passengers within 40 minutes. The injured were promptly transported to hospitals for treatment.
