Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen visited the Ministry of National Defense Cultural Camp today (11th) to encourage the media of the national army, including the Youth Daily News and Military News Agency. She urged them to continue promoting Taiwan’s commitment to democracy and freedom, rallying national consensus, and enhancing the overall combat capability of the military.
Upon arriving, President Tsai Ing-wen first visited the Youth Daily News Museum, where she viewed cultural and creative products, newspaper production processes, and VR equipment exhibition areas. She then visited the Military News Agency and interacted with colleagues.
In attendance at the event were Secretary-General of the National Security Council David Tawei Wu, Deputy Secretary-General Liu Dejin, Deputy Minister of National Defense Pao Hong-hui, Director of the Political Warfare Bureau Chen Yu-lin, Director of the Psychological Operations Division Lou Wei-chieh, Director of the Military News Agency Sun Li-fang, President of the Military News Agency Wang Chih-ping, and President of the Youth Daily News Xie Zhongjie.
In her speech, President Tsai Ing-wen expressed her gratitude for the hard work of everyone at the Military News Agency and the Youth Daily News, emphasizing their crucial roles in reporting military news and advocating for national defense policies. She thanked them for showcasing the strong combat capability and resilient spirit of the military to the public through vivid visuals and videos.
President Tsai noted that in today’s era of “smokeless powder offensives,” cognitive warfare combines military operations with information dissemination to influence public opinion and morale. She stressed the importance of their efforts in countering such offensives, which are no less significant than the army’s main combat forces.
“Facing the continuous united front, gray zone provocations, and cognitive warfare by the CCP against Taiwan,” President Tsai Ing-wen said, “I want to thank the Military News Agency and the Youth Daily News for actively countering through the use of promotional materials, short videos, and other means at the earliest opportunity.”
President Tsai expressed her expectation that everyone continues to tell the story of the national army and transmit Taiwan’s unwavering commitment to democratic freedom with their professionalism. She encouraged them to leverage their abilities in news and propaganda warfare, as well as strategic communication effectiveness, to unite the people, lead the cognitive battlefield, and achieve the goal of enhancing the overall combat capability of the military.
