Ford Motor Company announces four recalls involving nearly 400,000 vehicles

Recently, Ford has issued four consecutive recall notices, affecting nearly 400,000 vehicles of different models and years.

Ford is recalling 295,449 diesel engine trucks due to a fuel pump defect that could lead to power loss, increasing the risk of accidents. The recall number for this issue is 24S78. Notices will be sent to affected owners by January 13, and owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

As of Tuesday, December 31, Ford has not reported any accidents, injuries, or fires related to the fuel pump issue.

The recall applies to the following truck models:

– 2020 to 2022 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600;
– 2021 to 2022 Ford F-650, F-750.

Owners can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (toll-free at 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information. The NHTSA recall number is 24V-957.

Ford is recalling 16,480 Escape and 4,004 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid SUVs due to battery issues that pose a potential fire risk. Ford’s recall number for this is 24S79, with NHTSA’s recall number being 24V-954.

In documents submitted to NHTSA, Ford stated that the problem arises from manufacturing processes, with small defects or uneven stress distribution in battery units that could cause short circuits and potentially lead to fires.

Ford notes that in case of this issue, the dashboard will display a “Stop Safely Now” message.

The recall documents mention four instances of “thermal venting” caused by this problem but no accidents or injuries have been reported. “Thermal venting” refers to the release of gas or heat due to increased pressure within the battery from overheating or malfunction.

The affected vehicles include 2020 to 2024 Escapes and 2021 to 2024 Lincoln Corsairs.

NHTSA anticipates sending owner notification letters by January 20.

Dealers will update the affected vehicles’ battery energy control module software to detect issues. If problems are found, dealers will replace the high-voltage battery pack for free.

Potentially affected Ford owners can check the NHTSA recall website or contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332.

Additionally, Ford is recalling nearly 50,000 2024 to 2025 Lincoln Corsair vehicles due to faulty electric windows that may not respond correctly to obstacles, increasing the risk of injury. Ford’s recall number for this is 24C43, while NHTSA’s recall number is 24V-953.

Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out by January 13 for this recall.

Ford has also recalled over 30,000 2019 Ford Flex, Ford Fiesta, and 2019 Lincoln MKT vehicles due to rear-view camera malfunctions intermittently showing blank, distorted, or reversed images during reverse, potentially reducing or distorting the driver’s view of the rear situation. Ford’s recall number for this issue is 24S75, with NHTSA’s recall number being 24V-951.

Owner notification letters for this recall are slated to begin on February 2.
