The Chinese Communist Party leader shows no signs of abandoning military aggression against Taiwan, and in the New Year’s address for 2025, he declared that “no one can stop the trend towards reunification.” The government of the Republic of China strongly opposes the Communist Party’s sovereignty claims over Taiwan, emphasizing that only the 23 million people of Taiwan have the right to determine their own destiny. President of the Republic of China, Lai Ching-te, in his first New Year’s speech after taking office, mentioned the threats posed by authoritarian regimes like the Chinese Communist Party based on rules of the international order.

The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China today disclosed the dynamics of Communist military activities in the airspace around the Taiwan Strait. Between 9:29 am and 2:14 pm on the 1st, 2 sorties of Communist support aircraft and drones were observed in the southwest airspace stretching from the median line of the Taiwan Strait to the southern region of the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

Additionally, on the 1st from 9:59 am to 10:29 am, a Communist support aircraft was detected in the southwest airspace off the northeast of Dongsha Island.

Among them, 18 sorties crossed the median line and its extensions, entering the airspace in northern, central, southwest, and eastern Taiwan, in coordination with Communist vessels performing “joint combat readiness patrols.”

The national army is closely monitoring through joint intelligence gathering means and appropriately deploying reconnaissance aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems to respond to the situation.
