The Northern California Chinese School Association will hold its annual 2nd teaching seminar on January 12, 2025 (Sunday) at the South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center, with the theme “The Magic Formula in the Classroom”. Highlights of the event include childcare services and youth group members sharing their successful experiences in learning Chinese on site.
Director Zhuang Yashu of the South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center expressed gratitude for the Association organizing the teaching seminar every year, assisting teachers in responding to educational changes, enhancing professionalism, and even transforming teaching concepts. She also thanked the youth group leaders for sharing their experiences in self-learning Chinese and encouraged school principals and teachers to actively participate on January 12, 2025, for mutual growth.
President Li Naya of the Northern California Chinese School Association stated that many teachers aspire to do their best, but we do not need to pursue perfection; instead, we should strive to become teachers who can guide children to learn happily. This teaching seminar focuses on “dynamic classrooms” and “joyful learning” to help teachers create classrooms full of happiness.
The seminar has invited four outstanding speakers from the Bay Area to share inspiring students, design flexible classroom activities, and provide practical methods for effective learning guidance, helping teachers discover the unique charm of teaching. Lecture topics include: Ms. Chen Hengliang’s “Making Good Use of Carrots in Teaching Scenarios”, Ms. Chen Yiting’s “Make Chinese Class Come Alive!”, Ms. Long Ruilan’s “Air, Sunshine, Water: Photosynthesis in the Classroom”, and Ms. Xie Mingwei’s “Fun with Chinese Characters”.
The seminar specially invited youth group leaders to share their experiences in self-learning Chinese, including 20-year-old Elder Chun from Utah, who has been self-learning Chinese for 18 months; and also 20-year-old Elder Fang, who brings new inspirations to Chinese teaching from a cross-cultural perspective, broadening the participants’ horizons.
On the day of the seminar, a children’s growth camp will be set up to allow children to learn happily, play to their hearts’ content, and let parents participate in the activities at ease.
The growth camp will include activities such as Chinese painting, calligraphy, singing, arts and crafts, games, and cartoons, allowing children to have a fulfilling and fun day.
The seminar is now open for registration, with early bird discounts available until December 29, 2024, and the final registration deadline is January 7, 2025.
