Explosion in Residential Area in Shaanxi, China Leaves Over Ten Injured

On December 26, an explosion occurred in a residential building in the Kaixuan City community in Meixian County, Baoji, Shaanxi Province. The explosion caused a large hole in the exterior wall of the building and shattered most of the glass windows along the roadside. Reports indicate that more than ten people were injured in the blast.

Footage from the scene of the accident shows that the glass windows of a six-story residential building were mostly shattered, with explosion debris scattered all over the ground.

Many homeowners in the community left messages online expressing their shock at being woken up by the explosion in the early morning. Some said, “It was so scary, the sound was so loud,” and “It was terrifying, like a bomb going off.”

Some homeowners revealed the extent of the damage, stating, “Buildings 1, 2, and 5 were hit the worst,” and “My house is ruined,” “My windows, sliding doors, and ceiling are all damaged,” and “The window frames in my house are cracked, the glass is shattered, it’s the building in front of ours.”

According to reports from the public, the explosion occurred around 6 am on December 26 in the Kaixuan City community in Meixian County, Shaanxi Province. The exterior wall of the building was left with a large hole, and even security bars were blown ten meters away.

By midday on the 26th, local shop owners informed a local newspaper that the scene was cordoned off, and they were unsure about the exact situation. Some residents of the community speculated that it might have been a gas explosion in one of the households.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Meixian County Emergency Management Office reported via social media that around 7 am on December 26, there was a suspected gas explosion in a residential unit in the Kaixuan City community of Meixian County, leading to three people sustaining minor injuries with no reported fatalities. The specific cause of the accident is still under investigation.

However, sources from the public have revealed that more than ten injured individuals have been taken to hospitals for treatment. Personnel from the Meixian County Publicity Department vaguely stated that the explosion caused multiple injuries but no fatalities, and the investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
