Breaking News: Thanksgiving Celebration in Northeast Braved Rain and Snow, Americans Remain Enthusiastic

The northeast region of the United States encountered a winter storm on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday (November 28), but the enthusiasm of the people participating in the Thanksgiving festivities remained high.

According to the report from the National Weather Service (NWS) of the United States, an “active mid-latitude cyclone” is bringing showers and thunderstorms to the East Coast. Inland parts of the northeast may see moderate to heavy snowfall, with winter storm warnings issued for some areas in New England.

The precipitation on Thursday in the upstream regions of the Great Lakes could reach 4 to 8 inches.

NWS stated that as temperatures continue to drop, lake-effect snow in the region will intensify. In addition, the temperatures in Florida remain relatively warm and pleasant.

The northeast storm is bringing inclement weather to parts of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York, all of which have issued winter storm warnings. Cities further south like Baltimore and Washington DC are also experiencing rainfall.

Despite rainy conditions in New York City, the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade proceeded as scheduled. According to the Associated Press, the parade featured 22 floats, 15 giant inflatable displays, 17 character balloons, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns, and various performing groups, creating a lively and extraordinary scene.

According to estimates from the American Automobile Association (AAA), over 80 million Americans are expected to travel during the Thanksgiving period this year. Nearly 72 million people will drive to their destinations to celebrate the holiday.
