Former Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Secretary Sun Shaocheng is under investigation.

On January 29th, official reports stated that Sun Shaocheng, Deputy Director of the Social Construction Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently under investigation.

At 6 p.m. on January 29th, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission website issued a notice stating that Sun Shaocheng, Deputy Director of the Social Construction Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

Public information shows that Sun Shaocheng was born in July 1960 in Haiyang, Shandong Province. He has held various positions including Vice Minister of Civil Affairs, member of the party group, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Standing Committee Member and Minister of the United Front Work Department of Shanxi Province, Standing Committee Member and Vice Governor of Shanxi Province, Vice Minister of Civil Affairs, Deputy Secretary of the party group, among others.

In 2017, Sun Shaocheng served as the Secretary of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land and Resources and in March 2018, he became the Minister and Secretary of the Party Group of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. In April 2022, he was appointed Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Committee.

In September 2025, Sun Shaocheng stepped down as Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Committee and later assumed the position of Deputy Director of the Social Construction Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress.

With Sun Shaocheng’s downfall, the number of central-level cadres publicly investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission website has now increased to 7 since 2026.
