Internal strife in the Chinese Communist Party’s officialdom often involves mysterious occurrences. Yu Zujun, the President of Beijing Jiaotong University (referred to as Beijiao University), has been absent for nearly a month. Some reports of his past activities on the university’s official website have been altered to remove his name. However, his resume is still displayed in the current leadership section of the official website. The reasons behind this situation remain unclear.
According to the official website of Beijing Jiaotong University, multiple news articles mentioning both the Party Secretary Chen Ziji and Yu Zujun’s activities this year have been edited to exclude Yu Zujun’s name.
For instance, an article from January 1 titled “Chen Ziji and Yu Zujun deliver New Year’s greetings for 2026” has been changed to “Chen Ziji delivers New Year’s greetings for 2026.”
On March 30th to 31st, the university held a ceremony for the unveiling of the first batch of jointly established innovation research institutes. Baidu records show that originally it was reported as “Party Secretary Chen Ziji and President Yu Zujun attended and spoke at the event,” but the current news content on the Beijiao University website now states, “Party Secretary Chen Ziji attended the ceremony and spoke.”
A message on the official Weibo account of Beijiao University mentioned an event on April 13 at the Xiong’an campus Phase III project mobilization activity, stating that “University President Yu Zujun, Vice President Zhao Peng, and relevant leaders of the participating units attended the event.” However, the link attached to the Weibo post from Beijiao University News removed Yu Zujun’s name from the content.
News on the Beijiao University website shows that neither the meeting of the Party Committee’s theoretical center group on May 18 nor the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Beijiao University’s leadership and the Hebei Xiong’an New Area Management Committee on May 20 mentioned Yu Zujun in the official press releases.
Currently, in the current leadership section on the Beijiao University official website, Yu Zujun’s position and personal information are still displayed as usual.
Search results on the Beijiao University official website as of May 22 still show some news reports about Yu Zujun. For example, a news item from March 16 indicates that Yu Zujun led a team to visit and exchange ideas at the China National University Green Energy Regional Technology Transfer Center (Beijing) on March 13.
Public records show that Yu Zujun was born in October 1968 in Dayang, Hubei. He has held various positions at North China University of Transportation, including as a teacher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and later at Beijiao University as a teacher in the School of Mechanical and Electronic Control Engineering, Deputy Director, Director of the Office of the President, Member of the Party Committee, and Vice President. He is currently serving as the President of Beijing Jiaotong University and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. He also holds positions such as Director at the China Railway Society.
Beijing Jiaotong University is a key Chinese university jointly established by the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the Beijing Municipal Government, and the Chinese Communist Party National Railway Group Co., Ltd.
