Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, formerly known as Angelina Jolie, accused Brad Pitt of being violent towards his wife and children on a private plane in 2016. Despite the FBI investigation concluding with no charges against Pitt, the couple still went through with the divorce.
According to People magazine, in 2022, Jolie filed a lawsuit against the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act, seeking to unseal the investigation files of the domestic violence incident in 2016 to access information to help her children seek therapy and psychological counseling.
Fast forward two years later, as reported by USA Today and other media outlets on September 30th, Jolie withdrew her lawsuit on September 25th, and the domestic violence investigation files regarding Pitt were sealed.
Sources revealed that Jolie does not want to dwell on the past with Pitt. “She wants to focus on her family, work, and the future. That’s what makes her happy.”
In September 2016, Jolie sued Pitt for committing violent acts against his then-wife and children while on a private plane. This led to investigations by the FBI and the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services (LA’s DCFS). In the divorce application that month, Jolie listed the day after the incident as the date of separation. This marked the beginning of years-long battles over divorce proceedings, property, and custody of their children.
The FBI concluded its investigation later that year without charging Pitt. LA DCFS also confirmed that Pitt did not abuse the children.
Although Jolie and Pitt’s marriage only lasted two years, it took three years to finalize the divorce proceedings, which ended in 2019. Ultimately, Jolie was granted primary custody of the minor children, while Pitt was given visitation rights as requested.
Jolie and Pitt share six children, including three adopted children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and three biological children Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.
