“Controversy Arises over Drink Driving Scene in ‘Graduation’, Production Company Apologizes: Will Delete”

Popular Korean drama “Queen of Tears” is followed by the series “Graduation,” which aired its 4th episode on the 19th. However, a scene featuring the female lead “So Hui-jin,” played by Jung Li-yuan, driving under the influence has sparked discussions among viewers. In response, the production team of “Graduation” issued an apology on the 21st and stated that the controversial content would be removed.

In the 4th episode of “Graduation,” the veteran instructor of a cram school “So Hui-jin,” portrayed by Jung Li-yuan, is seen drinking and chatting with the new teacher “Nam Chung-mi,” played by So Ju-yeon. Afterward, “So Hui-jin” drives the male lead “Lee Joon-ho” (played by Wei Hua-jun) home from the cram school.

Following the broadcast of this plotline, viewers questioned the female lead’s decision to drive under the influence, expressing disappointment on social media with comments like “Didn’t anyone notice the issue?” and “This kind of mistake is disappointing.”

In response, CJ ENM, the production company of “Graduation,” stated today: “We have realized the issue after the episode aired, and the version with that scene removed will be available on VOD and replays. We apologize for making the audience feel uncomfortable due to our lack of consideration. To produce higher-quality content, we will be more cautious in the future.”
