Interdisciplinary Integration of Biomedical Research and Clinical Expertise at Chung Yuan Christian University Hospital

National Central University President Ching-yang Chow and acting director of Taoyuan Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ri-chang Chen, signed the “Academic Research Cooperation Agreement” at National Central University on May 9. The two parties will integrate biomedical research and clinical expertise, effectively combining their resources on the basis of teaching and research to create a mutually beneficial and win-win situation.

The participants included National Central University President Ching-yang Chow, Vice President Ping-yu Hsu, Dean of the College of Biomedical Engineering Wang Chien-chia, Associate Dean Nien-han Ma, Head of the Department of Life Science Shih-ching Chen, Director of the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Wei-kuang Liang, Acting Director of the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering Meng-tsung Lo, Acting Director of Taoyuan Hospital Ri-chang Chen, Associate Director Shu-hsing Cheng, Director of Research and Development Chun-hung Chiang, and Associate Director Chien-yu Cheng.

National Central University focuses on preventive medicine and precision medicine as core concepts. Its cutting-edge technologies include wearable medical devices, biomedical optoelectronics, medical cloud networks, research on chronic diseases and cancer, brain neurology, and more. The university is actively promoting core strengths in the field of biomedical research, collaborating with the Taoyuan City Government to establish a cloud network for citizen health management, promote a generational research program on chronic diseases, and launch atrial fibrillation screening across Taiwan using the team-developed wearable electrocardiogram detector.

Taoyuan Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare, has been dedicated to enhancing diverse medical services for emergency and critical illnesses, strengthening the accessibility of local medical care for residents in the Taoyuan-Zhubei-Miaoli region, serving as the best guardian of the people’s health. The agreement between the two parties will combine the clinical expertise and distinctive research of Taoyuan Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare, with the research and development capabilities of the Biomedical Team at National Central University, creating a new milestone of win-win synergy between academia and medicine, looking to the future and reaching new heights.
