Taiwanese veteran artist Yu Tian’s daughter, Yu Yuanqi, passed away from cancer in 2022, leaving behind two children for her husband Gary Chen Jian to care for. However, news broke on the 2nd that Gary was arrested on suspicion of fraud by the New Taipei Haishan Sub-bureau on the previous day, allegedly being the leader of a fraud ring known as the “driver.” This news has left Yu Tian in shock.

According to Apple Daily News, Gary Chen Jian was arrested by the New Taipei Haishan Sub-bureau on suspicion of fraud yesterday. It is understood that he is the leader of the “driver” group and has been transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office for investigation and is currently in custody. Due to the risk of collusion to destroy evidence, he was approved for detention and denied visitation rights by the court yesterday.

Upon hearing the news, Yu Tian expressed his shock, saying, “How could this happen?” He mentioned that he only found out about the situation when he received a call from a reporter in the evening and has been unable to reach Gary since. When asked about hiring a lawyer, Yu Tian stated that “Gary’s family will handle it.”

Yu Yuanqi’s younger brother, Yu Xiangquan, was also shocked upon learning of the news, stating that he had no prior knowledge of the situation.

Since Yu Yuanqi’s passing, the children had been under the care of the husband’s family. The revelation of the son-in-law’s alleged involvement in fraud has not only shocked Yu Tian but also filled him with indignation. He vowed, “Tomorrow, I will bring the two children back (to Yu’s home) for care.”
