Henan 14-year-old girl dies after being punished, official previously reported as minor injury.

On the evening of September 26th, a 14-year-old girl named Xiaoling (pseudonym) from Zhongmu County, Henan Province, passed away. Prior to her death, she was participating in a “Kezheng Quality Development Camp” where she was physically punished by an instructor, resulting in her falling unconscious and being rushed to the hospital for treatment. The Zhongmu County Propaganda Department previously reported that Xiaoling had suffered minor injuries and was in stable condition, but faced harsh criticism from netizens.

September 27th morning, Xiaoling’s father, Mr. Wang, posted a video on his personal social media accounts announcing that his daughter Xiaoling had passed away despite the rescue efforts. On August 31st, during the training at the Kezheng Quality Education School in Langchengang Town, Zhongmu County, Xiaoling was subjected to physical punishment by a teacher, leading to confusion of mind and her subsequent hospitalization, generating widespread attention online.

Mr. Wang told Zonglan News on the morning of the 27th that Xiaoling was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. on the 26th, with forensic officials already on the scene to take photos. He only wishes now that those responsible for the incident face the appropriate legal repercussions.

Mr. Wang also informed Red Star News that “even though my daughter has passed away, no one from the development camp has come forward to apologize or take responsibility. Their attitude is terrible, and they refuse to cover the costs of my child’s treatment.”

He explained that Xiaoling had been sent to the “Kezheng Quality Development Camp” due to her reluctance to study in the past, in hopes that she could receive traditional Chinese education and psychological counseling there. However, due to the school’s regulations, parents were not allowed to contact their children directly; they could only get updates on their child’s well-being through photos sent by the teachers.

As reported by the media, on June 27th, Mr. Wang enrolled Xiaoling at the Henan Kezheng Development Service Co., Ltd. and paid over 29,000 RMB in tuition fees. During the training period, Wang’s wife repeatedly requested to visit the school to see their daughter or have a video call with her but was refused by the school. The photos sent by the teachers showed Xiaoling in good spirits. On August 27th, the school informed the family that Xiaoling had been admitted to the hospital.

At the time, Mr. Wang shared that Xiaoling was in a state of unconsciousness, disoriented, and her eyes couldn’t see. “There were physical training activities in the school that my daughter couldn’t bear. In a state of physical exhaustion, the school instructors dragged her out under the scorching sun. Additionally, they tied her hair to a pole and hit her head. Xiaoling’s classmates at school informed me that the female instructor even made her strip naked and crawl on the ground.”

Following the public attention on the matter, the Zhongmu County Propaganda Department issued a report on September 4th stating that during the physical training at Kezheng Development Service Co., Ltd., instructor Wu subjected Wang to physical punishments such as standing in place and dragging, resulting in minor injuries to Wang. She was stable while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The news of Xiaoling’s death has once again sparked widespread online attention.

Weibo influencer “Niutaipu Student” said: “The girl who was fatally punished by instructors at the Henan Kezheng Development Service Co., Ltd. was already on a respirator on September 4th. However, on that day, Zhongmu County announced publicly that the girl had ‘minor injuries and was stable’. How was such an announcement made?”

Tech media platform “One Observation” founder “Suyi” said: “The previous report mentioned ‘minor injuries’? A 14-year-old girl’s life ended tragically, and you call that ‘minor injuries’? These beasts must face severe punishment, don’t you all think so?”

Another comment read: “Minor injuries led to unconsciousness? Minor injuries resulted in death. This is the first time I’ve understood the definition of ‘minor injuries’.”

Furthermore, it’s explained that “minor injuries refer to slight damage or mild temporary functional impairments to local tissue and organ structures caused by various external factors acting on the body. Generally, after healing, minor injuries have little to no impact on normal body functionality and appearance.”
