US and Australia Leaders Meeting Reiterate Peace in Taiwan; Taiwan: Upholding International Consensus

President Biden of the United States and Prime Minister Albanese of Australia expressed their concern for the peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait during their meeting, which was warmly welcomed and appreciated by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Taiwan will continue to work with like-minded countries to defend the shared values of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.

The meeting between President Biden and Prime Minister Albanese took place on the 20th in Delaware, USA. Following the meeting, a White House press release mentioned that the leaders of the US and Australia discussed their shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, while expressing concerns over China’s coercive activities and destabilizing actions in regions such as the South China Sea.

Both the US and Australia reaffirmed their dedication to promoting a free, open, secure, and stable Indo-Pacific region. After publicly expressing their firm support for Taiwan in the joint statement of the August Australia-United States Ministerial Consultations (AUSMIN), the leaders of both countries once again demonstrated the importance they place on maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, a sentiment that was sincerely appreciated and welcomed by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan stated that the continued issuance of statements by countries with similar values such as the US and Australia on the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait reflects a consensus within the international community on the need to uphold peace in the region.

As a responsible member of the Indo-Pacific region, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Taiwan will persist in working with like-minded nations to defend shared values of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law, as well as the rule-based international order.
