Hezbollah Walkie-Talkie Explosion Case: Taiwan Prosecutor’s Office Confirms No Involvement of Taiwanese

Lebanon’s Hezbollah party was recently involved in a “pager explosion case,” drawing global attention, with the pagers in question being suspected to come from Taiwan’s Gold Apollo company. However, the local inspection agency in Taiwan’s Shilin district stated on the 20th that there is currently no evidence of any Taiwanese nationals being involved in the explosive terrorist attack.

Members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah had pagers explode simultaneously in multiple locations on the 17th, causing casualties. Gold Apollo company clarified on the 18th that the model of the pager AR-924 belongs to BAC Consulting KFT, a company based in Hungary, and Gold Apollo only provides brand licensing without any involvement in the design or production of the product.

On the 18th, the Mayor of New Taipei City, Hou Youyi, mentioned in a media interview that upon being informed immediately, the city government instructed relevant departments such as the police and economic development bureau to collaborate across agencies to understand the situation.

The Shilin District Prosecutor’s Office in Taiwan stated on the 18th that the case has been separated and handed over to the Director of the National Security Special Group to actively investigate and clarify all facts as soon as possible. If any wrongdoing is discovered, severe legal actions will be taken accordingly.

On the 19th, the Prosecutor’s Office directed the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau’s National Security Station to search four locations including Gold Apollo’s offices in Xizhi District, New Taipei City, and Neihu District, Taipei City, as well as BAC’s office in Taiwan. Gold Apollo’s Xu Qingguang and Wu, who assisted in leasing shared office space for BAC in Taiwan, were summoned as witnesses. After questioning by the prosecutor, both Xu Qingguang and Wu were released.

The Prosecutor’s Office mentioned that the case is currently being deeply analyzed and verified based on the investigation materials obtained. In the future, they will promptly clarify any suspicions and provide timely explanations to the public. It was emphasized that there is still no concrete evidence regarding the alleged involvement of Taiwanese nationals in the explosive terrorist attack. The public is urged not to engage in unnecessary speculation as the Prosecutor’s Office and relevant agencies continue to exert full effort to uncover the truth to ensure the safety of the nation and its people.
