The Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan, Gong Mingxin, stated that Taiwan and the Czech Republic will work together over the next 3 to 5 years to develop the Czech Republic into an important semiconductor supply chain cluster in Europe.

Wu Zhaoxie, Gong Mingxin, Liu Jingqing, the Chairman of the National Development Council, Wu Chengwen, the Chairman of the National Science Council, and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Chen Zhengqi, attended the annual “GLOBSEC Global Security Forum” in Prague on the 30th and jointly held a press conference.

During the press conference, Wu Zhaoxie mentioned that the official and business delegation from Taiwan visited the Czech Republic to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the economic aspect, with the aim of promoting cooperation in the semiconductor supply chain.

He emphasized that the Czech Republic values the semiconductor industry, and since TSMC has a facility in Dresden, there is a need for a comprehensive supply chain. Wu Zhaoxie expressed the ambition to bring Taiwan’s supply chain to the Czech Republic and collaborate with TSMC to establish it here.

He highlighted the importance of stable infrastructure such as reliable power and water supply, and an adequate supply of engineering talent for Taiwanese companies investing in the Czech Republic or other countries. Incentive measures are another key factor emphasized by Wu Zhaoxie, stating the necessity of formulating complementary measures to attract industries and make Taiwanese companies feel welcomed by the Czech government and people. The hope is to see more Taiwanese investment in the Czech Republic, particularly in the semiconductor field, within 3 to 5 years.

Wu Zhaoxie also mentioned Taiwan’s successful experiences in establishing science parks and invited Czech officials to visit Taiwan for observation. The relationship between Taiwan and the Czech Republic is crucial for national security, and the Taiwanese government will continue to deepen bilateral cooperation.
