Recently, Guangxi has been hit by heavy rainfall, causing floods in 3 county-level cities and 6 counties (cities, districts), affecting 23,120 people. Five rivers in Guangxi have seen floodwaters exceeding the warning levels by 0.03 to 2.01 meters.
According to a report by CCTV News, the Guangxi Emergency Management Department stated that from June 2nd to 3rd, Guangxi experienced a new round of heavy rainfall known as “dragon boat water”.
Meteorological monitoring data shows that from 4 p.m. on June 2nd to 4 p.m. on June 3rd, strong rainfall occurred in 7 county-level cities including Hechi and Laibin, affecting 55 townships in 21 counties (cities, districts) with heavy rain, and 202 townships in 48 counties (cities, districts) with rainstorms. The floods in 3 county-level cities and 6 counties (cities, districts) in Guangxi have led to 23,120 people being affected, with 54 emergency evacuations and 138 emergency placements.
Statistics show that from the night of the 2nd to the morning of the 4th, this round of heavy rainfall caused 24 10-kilovolt and above main power line trips in Guangxi, affecting approximately 110,000 users.
According to the Guangxi Hydrological Center, due to the impact of heavy rainfall, water levels in the affluent streams of the Gui River, the rich waters of the Qian River, the Shiti Jiang and Xinjiang Rivers of the Yu River tributaries, the Panyang River and Qingshui River tributaries of the Hongshui River, the Malay River tributary of the Qian River, the blackwater River tributary of the Left River, the Huanghua River tributary of the Beiliu River, and the Dalia River tributary of the Meng River have risen by 2 to 6 meters.
Among them, the affluent streams of the Gui River, the Malay River tributary of the Qian River, the Panyang River and Qingshui River tributaries of the Hongshui River, and the Dalia River tributary of the Meng River have seen floods exceeding the warning levels by 0.03 to 2.01 meters.
The rainfall is expected to continue in the coming days.
On the evening of June 4th, the China Meteorological Administration issued a yellow alert, forecasting heavy to torrential rain in eastern Guangxi and other areas from 8 p.m. on June 4th to 8 p.m. on June 5th, with short periods of heavy rainfall in some areas and locally strong convective weather with thunderstorms and strong winds.
