Mainland Chinese celebrity couple Deng Chao and Sun Li provided the Chinese voice dubbing for the characters Jake Sully and Neytiri, respectively. The two interacted sweetly on the red carpet, with Deng Chao playfully trying to sneak a kiss on Sun Li, who responded with a calm smile, amusing the audience.
As one of the highest-grossing film franchises in global cinema history, ‘Avatar 3,’ directed by James Cameron, is set to be released simultaneously in mainland China and North America on December 19th.
According to the latest information from the IMAX official website, the film has a runtime of 195 minutes, making it the longest in the series. The star-studded cast includes returning actors such as Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Castilla Chaplin, and David Thewlis.
‘Avatar 3’ has been creating a buzz wherever it goes, with director James Cameron leading stars such as Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington in promotional events, sparking enthusiastic atmospheres. The Chinese voice dubbing lineup is strong, featuring Deng Chao, Sun Li, Zhang Ziyi, and Huang Xuan, four talented actors.
During the premiere on December 8th, Deng Chao carefully shared insights into his voice dubbing experience, avoiding spoilers and repeatedly emphasizing the need to not reveal too much. Sun Li humorously remarked, ‘While we play a married couple in the film, whether our relationship is good or not… it’s not quite the same!’ drawing laughter from the audience. Director Cameron jokingly commented, ‘You two didn’t fight as much as Jake and Neytiri did,’ eliciting more laughter.
Upon meeting Zoe Saldana in person, Sun Li couldn’t help but express her genuine admiration, saying, ‘I really like the character Neytiri, and I truly appreciate Zoe’s performance, so I cherish the opportunity to provide the voice dubbing and hope to fully embody her gestures, expressions, and love for the character.’ Sun Li revealed that during recording sessions, she immersed herself completely in the role, shedding tears with the storyline and even unintentionally acting out fight scenes in the studio. Cameron praised Deng Chao and Sun Li’s Chinese dubbing for capturing the essence of the characters.
Furthermore, Sun Li shared her deep connection with the ‘Avatar’ film series. She revealed that she watched the first movie with her mother, took her children to see the second installment ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ during the pandemic, and now feels fortunate to personally interact with her most respected director, Cameron, in the third film. She described herself as ‘very lucky and joyous to be able to participate in this work with my voice.’
Interestingly, Deng Chao and Sun Li made a lovely and affectionate appearance together on the red carpet at the premiere of ‘Avatar 3.’ They were dressed in black formal attire, holding hands and chatting amiably along the way. During the group photo session, Deng Chao playfully attempted to sneak a kiss on Sun Li, who responded with a composed smile.
