On September 28th, the former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education of the Chinese Communist Party, Lu Xin, who has been retired for ten years, was officially announced to have been put under investigation.
According to a report from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection website on September 28th, Lu Xin, the former member of the Communist Party committee and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education of the Chinese Communist Party, is suspected of “serious violations of discipline and laws” and is currently under investigation.
Lu Xin, 71 years old, had long served in the finance system and government departments in Liaoning. Public records show that she started working at the Fushun City Finance Bureau in 1982, was promoted to bureau chief in 1992, and served as the Deputy Mayor of Fushun City from 1993 to 1994. Later, she was transferred to the Liaoning Provincial Finance Department, where she held positions such as Deputy Director, Executive Deputy Director, and became the Director in 2000.
In January 2003, Lu Xin, who was not yet 48 years old, was appointed as the Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province, officially becoming a deputy provincial-level official. In 2009, she was transferred to Beijing and appointed as a member of the Ministry of Education Communist Party committee and Deputy Minister. She also served as the Deputy Director of the Office of the Central Xinjiang Work Coordination Group from December 2015 to December 2018.
In January 2016, Lu Xin stepped down from her position as Deputy Minister of Education. After retiring, she was elected as the President of the China Vocational and Technical Education Society in December 2018. In mid-July 2026, she also publicly attended relevant meetings of the society.
Following the announcement of Lu Xin’s investigation, her name was promptly removed from the “Society Leadership” section on the China Vocational and Technical Education Society website, which currently shows as blank.
Lu Xin is the ninth senior female official to be investigated since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The previous eight individuals were Li Weiwu, Zhao Jinyun, Liu Hui, Wang Lixia, Wu Lan, Wang Jun, Zhang Shiping, and Bao Hui.
Furthermore, Lu Xin is the second Deputy Minister-level official from the Ministry of Education to be investigated in recent years after Du Yubo, the former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education of the Chinese Communist Party. Du Yubo was investigated in September 2024 and in November 2025 was sentenced to 15 years in prison for corruption involving over 67.93 million RMB.
