In a recent real estate transaction in London, England, a super luxury property was sold for an astonishing price of 190 million pounds (approximately 1.725 billion Chinese yuan), revealing the mysterious identity of the Chinese seller.
According to a report by the British Financial Times on September 12th, the founder of the globally renowned cryptocurrency exchange platform “Huobi,” Li Lin, was the previously undisclosed actual owner of the luxury property “The Holme” in Regent’s Park, London. The property was sold for around 190 million pounds in June 2026, setting one of the largest transaction records in the British residential market in recent years. The luxury mansion was initially listed for sale in 2023 for 250 million pounds but remained unsold.
The former owner of the property was a member of the Saudi royal family.
Li Lin purchased the property in December 2024 for 139 million pounds and sold it a year and a half later, realizing a profit of 51 million pounds, an increase of over thirty percent.
As Li Lin had previously held the property under a subsidiary of the UK trust services provider Zedra, his personal name was not shown in the public property records, keeping the identity of the seller a mystery. The new buyer of the property is Abbas Sajwani, the son of the founder of Dubai real estate developer DAMAC.
“The Holme” was built in 1818, with a history spanning 200 years, and is designated as a Grade II listed historical building in the UK. Situated on approximately 1.6 hectares of land, the property boasts a built-up area of 2,694 square meters, with as many as 40 bedrooms. It is located adjacent to the London Zoo and the residence of the US Ambassador to the UK, with the land held under perpetual royal estate rights.
Li Lin founded Huobi in 2013 and sold all his shares in 2022 before exiting operations. In recent years, he has shifted his focus to digital assets, and Li Lin is currently a major shareholder in the Hong Kong-listed company New Fire Technology (now renamed Bitfire Group), primarily focusing on cryptocurrency funds and quantitative trading businesses.
