Zi Media Zhen Guan Shut Down: Previously Posted Article on Ningxia Girl’s Death in Rental House

On September 4, 2024, the well-known self-media WeChat public account “Zhengguan” in Xi’an was suspended, sparking attention. Last month, “Zhengguan” published an article revealing that a woman from Ningxia who graduated from a prestigious school in Beijing was suspected to have died in a rental room, causing a stir in public opinion.

Established on January 22, 2016, “Zhengguan” has published over a thousand articles. It has a readership of over one hundred million on various platforms, synchronously updating on multiple network content platforms such as WeChat public account, Weibo, Netease account, Toutiao subscription account, Zhihu, and holds a certain influence in Shaanxi and even across the country.

The WeChat public account of “Zhengguan” now shows that the account has been suspended, all content has been blocked, and the ability to open webpages from the public account has been restricted.

According to Jimumu News on September 4, when inquiring about the alleged violation and suspension of the “Zhengguan” account, the reporter consulted the person in charge of the account operation, who did not respond positively. The reporter tried to contact the author of the article “A Girl from Another Place Died in My Rental Apartment,” Yin, but no one answered the phone. Calls to Yin’s unit also went unanswered. Inquiries to the Yanta District and Qujiang New District Network Information Office about the above situation did not receive a valid response.

Currently, the Xi’an official has not disclosed the specific reasons for the alleged violation and suspension of “Zhengguan.”

On August 16, “Zhengguan” released the article “A Girl from Another Place Died in My Rental Apartment,” which attracted attention online. The article revealed that a girl from Ningxia, born in 1991 and graduated from a prestigious school in Beijing, repeatedly ranked first in local job unit written tests, but failed after interviews.

She asked for living expenses from home, went to Xi’an to find a job, and unfortunately died in the rental room.

The last time the girl entered the apartment was around May 20, and she died around June 15. There were no signs of ordering takeout, no traces of cooking at home, and she had not spoken to anyone. She “died in extreme loneliness.”

On August 18, “Zhengguan” deleted the article; on the 19th, in the “Article Processing Explanation,” it stated that the events described in the article “A Girl from Another Place Died in My Rental Apartment” were true. To protect the parties involved and prevent the event from being misinterpreted or speculated upon, the article was deleted.

After August 19, the WeChat public account of “Zhengguan” has not been updated. Prior to this, the account had published over 3,000 pieces of original content.

On August 19, reporters from Dingdu News contacted the Xianyang Public Security Bureau, and the staff responded: “The incident has been verified, and it falls under the jurisdiction of the Qindu Sub-bureau. The case is currently under investigation, and follow-up developments can be monitored.”

The suspension of the self-media “Zhengguan” WeChat public account has sparked widespread discussion on the internet.

“Because it exposed the truth of society, the actual appearance of social problems, instead of solving the problems by finding them, but first dealing with the individuals who exposed the problems, shows a lack of intention to solve the issues!” “It tightly controls ordinary people.” “Register a new account and continue to expose this ugly world.”

“If it weren’t for self-media, we might be even more shortsighted, the key is that now some people want to seal off the wellhead!” “Trying hard to cover up the ugly side. When it’s completely ugly, there’s no need to cover it up anymore.” “Not being meek, not being submissive, not listening obediently, if you report embarrassing and critical matters, you will be rectified.” “Only praise and glorification are welcomed.”
