Renowned media figure “Global Memory” released a video expressing the severity of the situation, highlighting how the torrential rainstorm inundated the bustling commercial streets of Zhengzhou in the blink of an eye.

According to some online accounts, certain underpasses in Zhengzhou accumulated water levels as high as 3 meters, resulting in significant losses for local businesses.

Furthermore, there were reports circulating online about a pedestrian being fatally electrocuted at an intersection in Zhengzhou. A video showed deep water on the road, with medical personnel urgently attending to a person lying on the ground. The incident reportedly occurred near the intersection of Huanghe Road and Jingba Road, suggesting it could be an electrocution accident.

A resident described how after the heavy rainfall on the night of July 22, the intersection was submerged, and shared photos showing a person a person lying on the sidewalk next to a street lamp, covered in blue plastic sheeting.

According to reports from The Paper, the incident was said to have taken place at the intersection of the Third Street of Jinkai District and Jingsan Road Nan in Zhengzhou. By 9 a.m. on the 23rd, all traffic lights at the location were not functioning.

Staff on duty at the Minghu Street Office in the nearby Jinkai District confirmed that a pedestrian indeed had a fatal incident at the intersection last night, but they were unsure about the details.

Official sources stated that on the night of the 22nd, Zhengzhou experienced short but intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds due to severe convective weather conditions. Between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the 22nd, the largest rainfall in Zhengzhou was recorded at 150.4 millimeters on Juyuan Road in Jinshui District, with peak hourly precipitation reaching 76.4 millimeters.
