Zhejiang Yandangshan Cable Car Accident: Female Tourist Falls and Injured

On October 1st, a cable car in the Yandang Mountain Scenic Area in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, suddenly malfunctioned, resulting in a female tourist getting injured from falling.

According to a post by a netizen on social media on October 1st, a cable car in the Yandang Mountain Scenic Area malfunctioned, causing a tourist to accidentally fall out, accompanied by a photo. The photo shows a yellow cable car with the words “Yandang Mountain Cliff Cableway Welcome” tilting in the air.

Witnesses posted on social media, saying, “The accident involved the No.1 cable car, we were on the No.2 cable car. The wind was strong at the time, the cable car shook and suddenly there was a loud bang, then we heard the door of the No.1 cable car open, and a woman fell out. Her child kept crying, saying his mother fell, asking for help to save her mother.”

According to “JiMu News,” a visitor named Zhang stated that the door of a cable car on the ropeway was blown open by a strong wind, causing a tourist to fall accidentally. Another visitor, Ms. Long (alias), mentioned that she rode the cable car down the mountain before the incident, and there were no seat belts inside the car.

The staff at the Yandang Mountain Scenic Area mentioned that currently, the cableway is suspended due to inspection reasons. Regarding the incident of a cable car malfunction causing a tourist to fall, the staff member said they were not aware of the situation.

According to a report by “The Paper” on October 2nd, the local cultural and tourism department informed that the injured tourist is being treated at the hospital without any life-threatening risks.

On the same day, the Yandang Mountain Scenic Tourism Management Committee announced that on the evening of the 1st, the Fangdong Cableway in Yandang Mountain had a sudden malfunction, where a female tourist (34 years old) was injured in an accident involving one of the cable cars. The specific cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The cableway is now suspended for use and will reopen after a comprehensive inspection, with the specific reopening time to be announced later.

Yandang Mountain is located within the jurisdiction of Yueqing City, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, and is one of the top ten famous mountains in China. In 1982, it was designated as one of the first national key scenic spots by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
