Recently, a blood-red “sun” appeared in the sky of Yunnan, and in the following days, another phenomenon of “bloody sky” occurred, causing many people to worry if a major earthquake is imminent.
On March 28th, a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, resulting in 3085 deaths, 4715 injuries, and 341 people reported missing. As a result of this earthquake, the regions of Zhenkang County in Lincang City and Huize County in Qujing City of Yunnan Province also experienced tremors, with the sky displaying a blood-red sun, sparking discussions among netizens. The term “Yunnan sky shocked by blood-red sun” even trended at the top of search lists.
Just a few days later, according to a news report from Sichuan TV’s Douyin channel, on March 30th, the sky above Kunming, Yunnan once again turned blood-red, causing panic among residents.
During an interview, Mr. Wang from the local area expressed, “The sky being blood-red is very strange, especially redder than usual, something I’ve never seen before.”
Many netizens from Kunming also posted videos, commenting, “The sky in Kunming looks even redder in reality than on the phone, is this normal?” “Why is the sky in Kunming so red?” “Today, the sky in Kunming doesn’t feel quite right all day, grey on one side and scary red on the other.”
In the video comments section, many local netizens expressed their concerns, with comments like, “Having lived in Kunming for over twenty years, this is the first time I’ve seen something so eerie.” “An earthquake just happened over an hour ago, I’m so scared, living on the 6th floor.” “I dare not sleep, with my two children next to me, I have to stay alert.”
Netizens sighed, “A few days ago it was purple in Sichuan, now it’s red in Yunnan, anomalies are everywhere.”
Some experienced netizens from Sichuan warned, “The evening before the Wenchuan earthquake, the sunset in Chengdu was also particularly red and beautiful.” “I still remember half a year before the Wenchuan earthquake when my grandfather was still alive, he told me that in his over eighty years of life, he had never seen the sky like that, not knowing what was going to happen. I laughed at him at the time, thinking these are just superstitions.”
A netizen from Guangxi mentioned, “Our Chinese language teacher used to say that during the Tangshan earthquake, the sky was also very red.” A netizen from Shandong added, “Last year in Shandong, the sky turned red too, followed by an earthquake.”
Some netizens advised, “It might be a good idea to pay attention to the behavior of animals. In 2008, in Sichuan, we saw chickens refusing to go into their coops, mice falling into pots and running around, and many, many frogs moving away from the water onto land. Even our family dog broke its leash and kept making crying sounds. The well made gurgling noises.” “Friends in Yunnan, get your tents ready, it’s safer outside now.”
