Yunnan man dies after being stabbed, ambulance travels 3 kilometers in 30 minutes

In a recent incident in Shilong Village, Fengyi Town, Dali City, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, a man armed with a knife injured four people in succession, with one victim reportedly dying due to ineffective rescue as the ambulance arrived late.

According to a report from Nanning Radio and Television Station’s program “Night Shift News,” on the evening of August 28, Mr. Xie was driving home with his wife, child, and sister when the assailant suddenly approached and stabbed him in the left chest through the car window.

Family members stated, “Several people were injured that day, everyone did not know the assailant, and his motive for the crime is unclear.”

After the incident, Mr. Xie’s family immediately called 120 for help. The nearest emergency station was only three to four kilometers away from the scene, but the ambulance took more than half an hour to arrive. Unfortunately, Mr. Xie passed away due to the delayed rescue efforts.

The family believes that the delayed arrival of the ambulance was a significant factor in Mr. Xie’s unsuccessful rescue and death, and they demand accountability.

On the afternoon of September 9, the Yunnan Provincial Health Commission reported that several people were injured by the assailant during the incident. One of the injured sent incorrect location information, leading to the ambulance taking the wrong route.

However, Mr. Xie’s family does not accept the explanation from the health department. They stated, “The previous caller clearly stated the location as Shilong Village. Why did the emergency responders not verify the information and end up four kilometers away? Why did they mistake two injured individuals with different conditions as the same person?”

The family of Mr. Xie expressed their intention to continue seeking justice through appropriate channels.

Regarding the assailant’s motive for repeatedly harming multiple people in public, the local police responded that the case is under investigation, and they are unable to disclose further details at this time.

The incident has sparked widespread concern online. Many netizens have expressed their opinions, with some saying, “It shouldn’t take so long for an ambulance to arrive when even walking doesn’t take that much time,” and “Shouldn’t the ambulance know the city’s locations well?” Others criticized, “They can make such basic mistakes, but not when it comes to collecting money!” and “The ambulance bears a significant responsibility.”
