Recently, a non-staff member of the government of Shizong County, Yunnan Province, China, revealed that the deputy county head, Su, had an extramarital affair with her and threatened her after she had an abortion.
On June 25, according to a report by “The Paper”, a non-staff member named Wei Yuan (pseudonym) of the government of Shizong County in Yunnan Province reported on June 24 that Su, the deputy county head, had an extramarital affair with her. Wei Yuan, who is 27 years old and from Dali, Yunnan, became a non-staff worker of the Shizong County government in 2023. She claimed that in May of that year, she and Su became lovers, and later they developed a physical relationship, only to find out several months later that Su was already married.
Wei Yuan disclosed that she discovered she was pregnant in April this year. Su first provided her with 40,000 yuan to undergo an abortion. After the abortion, Su instead threatened her.
She said that she had sent text messages and made phone calls to the Secretary of the Shizong County Party Committee to reveal the situation. After she exposed the matter to the media, Su negotiated with her on June 24, offering 150,000 yuan for settlement.
However, on the evening of June 24, Su stated that the events described by Wei Yuan were false, and he denied any involvement. He also claimed that the chat records provided by Wei Yuan, which included his phone number, were fabricated.
The Secretary of the County Party Committee confirmed that someone had sent text messages raising concerns about the deputy county head Su’s extramarital affair leading to a pregnancy, but the official involved denied the allegations.
According to information on the county’s official website, Su is 43 years old, from Xuanwei City, Qujing, and began working in December 2003. He has previously worked at the Qujing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and the Communist Youth League of Yunnan Province. In August 2022, he became a member of the Party Committee and the deputy county head of Shizong County.
Comments from netizens indicated that such similar situations are “far too many to count.”
Some netizens expressed doubts, saying, “It can’t be fake,” “There’s no smoke without fire,” and “Women should also cherish themselves.”
The culture of debauchery and corruption among Communist Party officials has been spreading since the leadership of former party leader Jiang Zemin. Previous investigation data has shown that 95% of corrupt Communist officials involved mistresses, while over 60% of corrupt officials were associated with having multiple extramarital affairs.
Incidents of Communist Party officials being reported for extramarital affairs are not uncommon. For example, on the evening of November 1, 2023, administrative staff member Gu Minqi from Changzhou, Jiangsu, released a video accusing Liyang’s Vice Mayor Zhang Tao of not only engaging in corrupt activities but also having an extramarital affair with a female colleague (currently a member of a district committee and the discipline inspection commission). After the incident was exposed, the authorities announced on the 3rd that Zhang Tao was relieved of his duties as Vice Mayor.
In October 2023, a woman from Henan Province reported online that Zhao Changbo, the current secretary of the village branch in the Beishui Cheng District of Yeyi Town in Yexian County, Pingdingshan, had forcibly taken advantage of her for seven years. The village secretary had threatened that nobody could harm him because he had connections with the police. The woman, feeling helpless after reporting to the authorities to no avail, decided to expose her experience online.
In early 2023, Zhang Litao, the Deputy Mayor of Yangzhou, Jiangsu, was caught on camera in a compromising position at the home of Dai Lu, the Deputy Director of the Commerce Bureau in Guangling District. The footage was recorded by Dai Lu’s husband, Li, who then reported the incident with the video evidence.
