In recent times, there has been a disturbing trend of bullying and even killings of left-behind children in China. Last month, a 15-year-old girl from Yunnan Qujing was murdered by her 14-year-old male classmate from the same village, sparking widespread public outcry. It is noteworthy that shortly after the Xiangxiang Chenbao, a mainland Chinese media, released a report on the incident, the article was unexpectedly deleted.
On August 18th, Mr. Fang from Qujing, Yunnan, told Xiangxiang Chenbao that on July 6th of this year, his 15-year-old daughter was killed by a 14-year-old male classmate from the same village named Jiang.
Mr. Fang explained that he and his wife had been working in Hainan, leaving their daughter alone at home. On the evening of July 6th, a female classmate invited his daughter to her cousin’s house to hang out. There were about a dozen people at her cousin’s house that night, including some of his daughter’s classmates, including Jiang.
After spending an hour together, when the girls were about to head back home, Jiang offered to escort them. After dropping the female classmate off at her house, Jiang continued to accompany the daughter home, and an incident occurred on the way.
Local authorities later informed Mr. Fang that Jiang attempted to sexually assault his daughter. When she resisted, Jiang strangled her, resulting in her death. Afterwards, Jiang dragged the daughter’s body for over two hundred meters and upon hearing a passing car, he left her on the road.
Two children witnessed the daughter’s body and informed their parents, who subsequently contacted the police. The next day at noon, the police took Jiang into custody.
Mr. Fang stated that his daughter, the second child in the family, was starting her sophomore year before the summer break. With both parents working outside, his daughter had been alone at home for two years. She was a mature and obedient girl who didn’t like going out to play, and even the neighbors didn’t know what she looked like. Besides being classmates, his daughter and Jiang had no other connections. On the way home that day, Jiang was even asking the two girls about their homework, so they were off guard.
As of now, the daughter’s body is still in the funeral home, and the police are continuing their investigation.
On August 18th, staff from the Luoping County Public Security Bureau informed Xiangxiang Chenbao reporters that the case was under investigation.
After this incident garnered attention on the internet, Xiangxiang Chenbao inexplicably deleted the article.
Some netizens expressed their outrage, stating, “An attempted rape ending in intentional murder… Don’t tell me that mentally unstable minors can think of attempting to rape and then killing someone like this animal did.” “Dragging her body for 200 meters shows it wasn’t a spur of the moment, his mind was clear, showing no remorse at all. And this is still called a child?”
Other netizens commented, “If you give birth, you have a responsibility, how could you leave a girl of this age by herself! Parents have a responsibility!” “Being left alone at home for two years must have been so difficult for the daughter.”
“It’s called being left behind and going out to work, it’s time to pay more attention to this suffering!”
“A 15-year-old girl being murdered by a male classmate on the way back home is a personal tragedy, as well as a failure of the family, school, and society. The safety protection of left-behind children, the legal rights and psychological education of minors urgently require attention and improvement!”
